1st character - Area is developed with four buildings and then a city with two buildings and then there is a mine.  It has been awhile since anything has spawned in the city.  Outside spawning is very slow with new creatures showing up after about a week or more and usually killed off within the day they spawn by other characters there.  The mines are not looked after due to creatures spawning so I've had my character patrol the mine about every week and there are usually a few spawnings and usually in the same exact area as the same exact creature everytime.

2nd character - Area has two building (not including two tents) and a mine.  This is my character's birhtplace and he had been away from it for years and recently returned.  Everybody else that use to live there are gone so it appears the creature spawning rate is out of control.  There is probably well over a hundred creatures and it appears to continue to grow.  And the mine my character has never gone into so I'm not sure how it is like in there.  Mine had been abandoned for the most part since his birth.

3rd character - He was just born and appears to be in a new colony.  There are only two adults and no development in the area.  This area appears to have about 50+ creatures.  I haven't really been paying attention to the spawn rate here and as it isn't a concern for my character just yet as he is a newborn but I would say it has increased a bit since I first checked the area out.

If it help I can give names of locations, races, and characters to you, Lumin, in a PM.

I changed some things. There may be more spawns now than normal.

Even in areas with little development? We are already overrun with squirrels and mice.

Only areas with buildings, roads, and mines should see a difference.

Do spawn rates depend on how many animals are there already? Because that would be realistic. It would be nice to think, that if people overhunt, that theyd have fewer animals.

And it would also be cool, if you didnt suddenly get new creature types from nowhere all the time, rather families of animals having children as charries do. A few new animals would be understandable, but large amounts of new creatures with no families, suddenly appearing in a mine, or outside biomeme? That seems fairly odd, and less easy to RP with, unless one calls in magic or the gods. For me, it would be cooler, if families played in to animal spawns.

You could also set maximum populations too, to represent when resources and space was getting thinner?

But I also understand that the spawn rates and such, has been an ongoing and somewhat complex issue for you, and I dont want to overburden you with ideas!!

Migration happens in reality too.

Two people, outside with no houses present: Only one megabeast spawned in the last 4 days. I personally think that this spawn rate is too low.

Went from none to about a dozen monsters in our mines in a day, possibly two.  As far as I know, nobody had stayed in the mines for long.  Before that we'd had only a single monster show up, of a different type, as well as an earthworm.

We haven't had any critters spawn inside our city or mines at all still, we're stuck at zero. I don't know their spawn rate for the outside camp, haven't hung around and there are way too many to keep track of.

Eh, it's slow... though I haven't seen any gila monsters there after I killed them all.

My character is on a location with two people and pretty much nothing else. So far, only two creatures have spawned.

EDIT: Just realised Cheshire Cat has already posted about this. Oh well.

How so? It's a megabeast, or unknown creature, those things aren't supposed to be teeming everywhere. Go to WoW if you want uber spawn rates to grind your combat skill up.

I think Cheshire was trying to say that the megabeast was the only thing that spawned.

Also, you are not being very nice.

I still don't know why creatures are spawning in some places and not others. From what I understand, more creatures generally spawn in mines than in outside locations or cities. Is that right?
